Wheel, hammer, laptop, or laser printer - tools should make your team more effective.

Labor is almost every organization’s largest cost. At Cascade Computers we believe this reflects a crucial truth - people are valuable. With this in mind, we believe it is very important to ask, “How effective are the tools you provide to the most valuable part of your organization?”

Building People Up or Tearing them down?

Information Technology (IT) can be particularly powerful in amplifying human effectiveness for the single reason that every job at some point, requires information! Unfortunately when IT doesn’t work well, it doesn’t just eliminate the amplification, it actually makes us less effective.

As we make every decision, we ask ourselves, “Is this building up our end-users - making them better people and enabling them to excel at their job, or is it tearing them down and making them ineffective?” IT systems that build people up need to have these properties:

  • Secure - You must protect the work your team puts out. The data, service, and relationships they have built with the people they serve.

  • Reliable - System failure breaks mental flow and discourages team members from fully investing - they become too afraid of “breaking” something to learn new tools and methods this leads to a team resistant to new opportunities.

  • Enabling - Information Technology exists to remove barriers from your team, not create them.

This is just scratching the surface. What barriers are faced by your staff? We would love to help explore technologies that can help break through them.
